On 13 September 2025, the South West Community Development Council (CDC) launched Learning with AI Personalisation (LAP) @ South West at its District Meeting & Partners Appreciation themed “Stronger Together, As One Singapore.” The initiative, graced by Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration, is powered by Luminee Learning’s platform, Luminee Learning.

This landmark programme, supported by KiteSense Pte Ltd, Temasek Foundation, Quantedge Foundation and the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), seeks to transform the way students learn through the power of AI.

Luminee Learning at the Heart of LAP @ South West

At its core, LAP @ South West is powered by Luminee Learning. The AI-driven Luminee Learning platform was designed to help every student learn better, faster and more confidently regardless of their starting point.
By analysing each student’s pace, learning habits and needs, Luminee’s 24/7 AI coach personalises guidance in English, Mathematics and Science. Step-by-step explanations, adaptive practice, and engaging multimedia resources ensure students don’t just complete drills, but truly understand and apply concepts.
This means that students from vulnerable families, often those with the least access to private tuition can now enjoy the benefits of personalised, high-quality learning support at their fingertips, anytime, anywhere.

Scaling Impact of AI Learning Through Partnerships

With 1,500 Primary 4–6 students in South West District set to benefit, LAP @ South West demonstrates how Luminee Learning technology scales impact when combined with strong community partnerships.
  • Volunteers and CCs: With Luminee taking care of routine checking and explanations, volunteers can focus on mentoring, building study habits, and providing emotional encouragement.
  • Evaluation by SUSS: Data-driven insights from student learning journeys will be studied to measure outcomes and refine best practices for broader community adoption.
  • Foundation partners: Temasek Foundation and Quantedge Foundation’s support ensures that access to technology is not limited by family income.
Since its soft launch in February 2025, nearly 250 students have already joined, reflecting strong community interest and the programme’s potential to uplift learning in meaningful ways.

Human Stories: How Luminee Makes a Difference

Volunteers: Guiding with Heart
  • Kelly Ong Xin Yuan, a volunteer tutor with Nanyang Sayang at Nanyang CC, highlights how Luminee Learning’s clean design, engaging leaderboard system, and clear videos make learning not only easier for students but also more effective for tutors. With AI handling routine checking and explanations, Kelly focuses on motivating, coaching, and celebrating small wins with her students.
  • Rina, Volunteer Manager at Epworth Community Services, shares that LAP @ South West has enhanced their Epworth Study Buddies programme, providing personalised learning aligned to each student’s ability. “Luminee Learning strengthens our programme by enhancing learning outcomes and empowering volunteers to teach more effectively,” she says.

Students: Building Confidence and Independence
  • Muhd Aqil, a Primary 6 student from Nanyang Sayang, uses Luminee Learning as a “warm-up” before mock exams and prelims. Clear, step-by-step explanations help him self-correct quickly and move on with confidence, while a volunteer checks in on weekly targets at CC sessions, a combination of on-demand guidance and a supportive environment that strengthens his motivation and self-directed habits, complementing classroom teaching and parental guidance.

Educators: Inspiring Growth with AI
  • Mani Pariasamy (Sam), Organising Chair of the LEAP Programme at Yuhua CC, has mentored students for over 25 years. After integrating Luminee Learning, he observed that “now, every student gets the right support at the right time – whether they need extra help or more challenging questions,” and “because the feedback is instant, mistakes become opportunities to learn immediately.” He adds, “the AI handles the routine drills, so we can focus on what really matters, that is, guiding, inspiring, and believing in these kids,” and his facilitators now pair short adaptive practice with confidence-building conversations, turning setbacks into learning steps and nurturing confidence, resilience and a love of learning.
